Evelyn “Cookie” May Pratz

Evelyn “Cookie” May Pratz, 94, of Sugar Grove, P.A., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on September 19, 1926 at home in Pittsfield; a daughter to the late John and Rosie (Pillsbury) Wilson. Cookie was a 1945 Warren Area High School graduate. She was a homemaker, raising and caring for her 10 children and also worked at the New Process and Town and Country for a few years. Her and her husband owned and operated Tony’s Pratz’s Pizza for many years. Cookie was a member of the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church.

She was an avid bingo player and loved traveling, especially to Ricky VanShelton and Danny O’Donnell concerts. She had held many family traditions, including her wonderful New Year’s Eve parties and her super Easter egg hunts. She enjoyed being with her family and will be missed.

She is survived by her children, Gloria Chase and her husband, Randy, of Warren, Jerry Pratz of Sugar Grove, Ralph Pratz of Jamestown, N.Y., Tom Pratz and his wife, Anne, of Leesburg, V.A., Brenda Huling and her husband, Lars, of Irvine, Debi Pratz of Florida and Mary Johnson and her husband, Dan, of Goldston, N.C.; a brother, Richard Wilson and his wife, Pat, of Lander; a son-in-law, Larry Sandman of Wyoming; a daughter-in-law, Patty Tyler of Texas; 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild as well as many nieces, nephews and great and great-great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Cookie was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Anthony Francis Pratz, who died in 2001; a daughter, Judy Sandman; two sons, Dan Pratz and Anthony Pratz, Jr.; 3 brothers, Albert, Robert and James Wilson and 3 sisters, Luella Check, Grace Dewitt and Florence Abplanalp.

Public visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 3, at the Sugar Grove Free Methodist Recreation Center, 210 Jamestown St., Sugar Grove, P.A. 16350, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m., at which time a private funeral service will be held there with the Rev. P.J. Cathcart, pastor, officiating. Masks and social distancing will be observed. Burial will follow in Warren County Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sugar Grove VFD, 11 Wilson Road, Sugar Grove, P.A. 16350 or to the charity of choice.
