Barton R. Johnson

Barton R. Johnson, 83, of Frostproof, FL, formerly of 278 Sampson Street, Jamestown, died Wednesday, March 3, 2021, in Clermont, FL.

He was born May 25, 1937, in Jamestown, the son of the late Russell C.C. Johnson and Sylvia Johnson.

He was a 1957 graduate of Jamestown High School.

He served in the US Naval Reserve for 8 years.

Prior to his retirement he was employed by Jamestown Metal Products and earlier had worked for Crescent Tool Company, Marlin Rockwell Corporation and worked at Johnson Florist which was owned by his family.

He was a longtime member of Hillcrest Baptist Church where he served as an usher and attended the Bethesda Sunday school class. After retiring to Florida, he attended South Lake Wales Church of God where he also enjoyed being an usher. He was a member of the Vikings Lodge.

Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Phyllis Cornwell Johnson; two sons Barton (Susan) Johnson II of Orlando, FL and Steven (Karen) Johnson of Busti; four grandchildren Heather (Bryan) Maione of Fuquay-Varina, NC, Holly (Dan Kremer) Johnson of Buffalo, NY, Gregory Johnson and Collin Johnson of Orlando, FL; three great grandchildren Ruby, Evelynn and Parker Maione and a sister Joy (Don) Smith of Busti.

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed. A celebration of life for the public to attend will be held at a later date.

Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
