Richard D. Campbell

Richard D. Campbell, 85, of Falconer passed away Monday (February 15, 2021) in the Lutheran Home. He was born July 30, 1935, in Olean, N.Y., the son of the late George and Josephine Saulsgiver Campbell.

Richard attended Olean High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean War from 1954 to 1958 in England and Guam. Prior to retirement in 1997 he was employed by Carborundum for 38 years.

Richard enjoyed fishing, hunting, model cars, model planes, knitting caps for newborn babies, playing cards, bingo and working in his woodshop. He’ll be remembered most for his sense of humor and always willing to lend a hand to help anyone.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine A. Polizzi Campbell, whom he married September 24, 1955, in Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church; four children: Debra (Robert) Santolla of Florida, Thomas D. Campbell (Lori Fitzpatrick) of Falconer, Richard G. Campbell of California, Russell L. Campbell (Janice Barrus Gee) of Fredonia; 11 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and a sister, Jean (Clair) Anderson of Frewsburg.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers: Donald Campbell and James Campbell; a sister, Delores Maynard and a daughter-in-law, Karen Campbell.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Rev. Joseph A Jananczek, pastor of Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Friends will be received by the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
