Lani Marie Brooks

Lani Marie Brooks, 54, of Aldrich Street, Gowanda, formerly of Little Valley, passed away at 6 a.m., Friday (Feb. 26, 2021) at home after an extended illness with her family by her side.

She was born Nov. 16, 1966, in Olean, the daughter of the late Richard and Beverly R. (Barber) Schreckengost. Lani was a 1984 graduate of Randolph Central School and along with her husband Michael, were the co-owner, operators of the former Brooks Market in Little Valley and Cattaraugus.

She enjoyed doing crafts, crocheting, sewing, scrap booking, traveling and spending time with her family. She attended Faith Bible Chapel in Randolph, where she attended the Ladies Bible Study and small group fellowships.

Lani is survived by her husband Michael J. Brooks, whom she married on Dec. 4, 1999, three daughters, Mackenzie (Roger) Kyomukama of Jamestown, Shelby (Jay) Jones of Randolph and Rachel Brooks of Gowanda, a son, Michael Brooks Jr. of New Albion, three grandchildren, Solomon and Kailynn Jones and Malaika Kyomukama and two sisters, Vicki (Daniel) Slaugenhaupf-Cuddy of Olean and Gayle Anderson of Randolph, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 2-5 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 28, 2021) from the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Monday March 1, 2021, from Faith Bible Chapel, 117 Jamestown St., Randolph, Pastor Edwin Ramirez will officiate. Burial will be in the Steamburg Cemetery. To leave a condolence for the family, log onto: www.vanrensselaerandsonfuneralhome.com.
