Wayne A. Tanner

Wayne A. Tanner, 79, of Jamestown, formerly of Ellington, passed away Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020 at UPMC Chautauqua.

Born April 22, 1941, in Olean, a son of the late Alfred D. and Marian Demming Tanner.

He was employed at Crawford Furniture as a machinist for over 35 years retiring in 2004.

Wayne was a former Boy Scout leader in Sinclairville and Ellington, was a lifetime member of the Ellington Volunteer Fire Department, former member of the Henry Mosher Son’s of the American Legion, Ellington Rod and Gun, social member of Cherry Creek Veterans of Foreign Wars and Vietnam Veterans Association.

He enjoyed the outdoors including hunting, fishing, camping and snowmobiling along with bowling, collecting chickens, country and western music (especially the Coyote Band) and dancing.

Husband of the late Judy Livermore Tanner and Doris P. Nieder Tanner; father of Debbra (David) Grossman of Kennedy, Delessly “Dee” (late Kathy) Tanner of Falconer, DeWayne (Lynn) Tanner and Dawn Sell, all of Frewsburg; grandfather of 14 including the late Raychell Arie Sell; great-grandfather of 20 1/2; companion of Donna Jenks of Jamestown; brother of Sherry Johnson of Dewittville, George (Peggy) Tanner of Mayville, Melvin “Butch” (Dorothy) Tanner of Stow, Leona “Cookie” (John) Boser of Hartfield and the late Charles Tanner, Ruth Gruber and Maryanna “Tiny” Tressler. Also survived by nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday. Burial in Valley View Cemetery, Ellington.
