Robert G. Forsberg Sr.

Robert G. Forsberg Sr., 90, of 59 Louisa Ave., Jamestown, died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2020 at UPMC Chautauqua.

Bob was the husband of Diane E. Certo Forsberg, who passed away Dec. 28, 2020. They were married July 29, 1989.

He was born in James-town on Dec. 19, 1929, the son of the late Reuben and Marian Forsberg, and was a graduate of Jamestown High School.

Bob served in the U.S. Army’s 503rd Airborne In-fantry from 1951-53.

For 15 years, Bob was employed by the former Automatic Voting Machine Corp., and retired as a machinist from Cummins Engine in Lakewood.

He was a member of the War Vets Recreation, Celoron American Legion and in earlier years belonged to the Moose Club and the Vikings Lodge.

Bob enjoyed his many years as a member of the Metal Detecting Club and had been an avid golfer and bowler. In his younger years, he also enjoyed play-ing softball.

He is survived by a son, Robert G. Forsberg Jr. (Pa-tricia), granddaughter, Stephanie Forsberg and great-granddaughter, Ade-lynn Forsberg, all of Ham-burg, N.Y. Also surviving are two stepchildren, Donald Mitchell (Emily) of Pittsburgh and Patricia Webb (Rodney) of Mesa, Ariz.; four step grandchil-dren: Anthony and Madison Webb and Benjamin and Jack Mitchell; two nephews: Tom Forsberg of Helena, Mont., and Doug Forsberg of Jamestown; as well as his first wife, Vir-ginia P. Robinson Forsberg of Hamburg, N.Y.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Douglas Forsberg; and brother, Charles Edward Forsberg and Charles’ wife, Eleanor.

A combined Mass of Christian Burial for both Mr. and Mrs. Forsberg will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lakewood, N.Y. The Rev. Piotr Zaczynski will be celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Following the current pandemic regulations for social distancing, friends will be received in a ‘walk-through’ manner from 4-6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4, in the Lind Funeral Home. Masks are required at all times.
