Randall Shampoe Jr.

Randall Shampoe Jr., 46, of Clymer, N.Y., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020, in Pittsburgh, from complications of COVID-19.

Randy was born Feb. 3, 1974, to Sonya Beckerink Shampoe and the late Randall Shampoe Sr.

He was a 1993 graduate of Clymer Central School and attended Jamestown Community College, as well as many trainings at the New York State Academy of Fire Science in Montour Falls.

Randy dedicated himself to serving his family and community. He took great joy in being a stay-at-home dad and caring for his children as they grew. He especially enjoyed working with his Grandpa Hiram in construction and carpentry, and boiling maple syrup with him every year.

He spent 26 years with the Clymer Volunteer Fire Department and also served on the Chautauqua County Fire Advisory Board and the Chautauqua Area Search Team. Along with his grandpa, Randy spent many years organizing the Clymer Food Pantry, and was a member of the Clymer Historical Society. He was always ready and willing to help out whenever there was a need.

In addition to his mother, Randy is survived by his wife of 23 years, Carrie (Wassink) Shampoe, and their children, Sydney, Michael, and Trent. He is also survived by his brother, Nick; nephew, Bailey Weeks; maternal grandmother, Jane Beckerink; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In addition to his father, Randy was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Hiram Beckerink, and his paternal grandparents, Gordon and Carol Shampoe.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be no visitation and the funeral services will be private.

Donations in Randy’s memory may be made to the Food Pantry, c/o Abbe Reformed Church, or the Clymer Volunteer Fire Department, or the Clymer Historical Society.
