Joseph Grant Blasdell

Joseph Grant Blasdell resided at 862 Foote Ave., in Jamestown. Born in San Luis Obispo, Calif., he was 40 years old when he left this Earth on the morning of Dec. 27, 2020.

He began receiving sup-ports and services at TRC in 1996, where he was also employed for many years both in the work center and as a mail courier. In that time he seemed to touch the hearts of every TRC em-ployee in his path. From firect care to program director, virtually no one at TRC can say they weren’t devastated to hear of Joe’s passing. Joe was also a familiar face within his community, and enjoyed going to stores and restau-rants whenever he could. Joe brought joy to others wherever he went.

Joe loved collecting and sorting cards, discovering lucky pennies during his travels, going for rides past farms and pastures pointing out each farm animal he saw, visits to the zoo, and attending sports games, especially the Buffalo Sa-bres. Joe was the type of guy who could make you laugh in nearly any cir-cumstance. Joe’s smile was famous and would put a twinkle in his eye that al-ways made him look like he was ready to join you in any mischief as soon as you gave the word.

His friends, chosen fami-ly and staff will be planning a private service. The peo-ple he loved also plan on finding ways to memorial-ize Joe on his upcoming birthday, Jan. 16. If you knew Joe, please join his friends in finding a way to extend the joy and love and laughter that Joe brought to this world on this very spe-cial day.

The author Ernst Junger once opined “His death brings a new experience to my life – that of a wound that will not heal.” To any-one who knew Joe Blasdell, that sentiment rings true in his absence.
