Jesse William Dalrymple

Jesse William Dalrymple of Willow Creek, Calif., died of lung cancer on Nov. 11, 2020. He passed peace-fully at home with family by his side.

He was born Sept. 23, 1952, in Dunkirk, N.Y., to Leonard and Betty Dalrymple. He grew up in Cassadaga N.Y., with his two sisters: Arlene and Darlene.

Jesse joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1969 honor-ably serving four years stationed in North Carolina. It is fitting that he passed on Veteran’s Day, as he was honored and proud to have served his country.

After his time in the U.S. Marines, he moved to Fresno, Calif., to pursue a degree in forest management. Upon completion of his degree, he moved to Somes Bar, Calif., working with the forest service for several years.

His career as a forest ranger was cut short due to a back injury but he remained in the Orleans/ Somes Bar area. It was there that he fell in love with the mountains and rivers. In particular, he loved rock hunting, gold panning, fishing and mush-rooming. He continued to be an outdoorsman and an avid mushroomer all his life. His passion for mush-room hunting led him to be locally known as the Mush-room King, a title he held proudly.

He is survived by the love of his life, Carol Davis; four children: Aja Dalrymple, Lucy Szost-kiewicz, Kyle Dalrymple and Carly Dalrymple; two stepchildren: Becky Davis and James Davis; seven grandchildren, and two sisters: Arlene Connelly and Darlene Gilbert.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Betty Darlymple.

Arrangements by Humboldt Cremation & Funeral Services, 1500 4th St., Eureka, CA 98801.
