Charles F. Hoisington

Charles F. Hoisington, 92, of Franklinville, died Nov. 29, 2020, at the New York State Veterans’ Home in Batavia.

Chuck was born in 1928 in Olean, N.Y., to Gilbert and Charlotte Gron Hois-ington.

He was a graduate of Fredonia High School and moved to Jamestown as a young man to begin a 27 year career at Hope’s Win-dows. He also operated Jamestown Office Cleaning before leaving western New York to make his home in South Carolina for many years.

During his time in Jamestown, he was active in supporting local sports programs through the Matthews & Miller Athletic Club and was among those who helped bring Babe Ruth Baseball tournament play to the community in the 1970s.

He is survived by a son, Doug (Michelle McIntyre) Hoisington; a daughter Dawn (Michael) Bennink; along with two step- daughters; Sandy Hitchcock DeBartolo, his caretaker, with whom he made his home, and Laura (Larry) Hitchcock Adkins; two stepsons: Clarence (Jeanne) Riordan Jr. and Joshua (Deanna) Riordan; numerous grandchildren and step-grandchildren; and a sister, Gwendolyn Tho-mas.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Hoisington; brothers: William Hoising-ton and Gilbert Hoisington, Jr.; and a son, John Hois-ington.

Visitation will not be ob-served. Interment will be in Mt. Prospect Cemetery in Franklinville.
