CONSTABLEVILLE – Timothy J. LaRoy, 69, husband of Susan, of West Road, passed away in the comfort of his home on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2020, while surrounded by his loving family.

Timothy was born on Oct. 26, 1951 in Jamestown, N.Y., a son of Charles and Gladys Fargo LaRoy. Tim grew up in Sinclairville, N.Y., where he graduated from Cassadaga High School, with the Class of 1969. While in high school Tim enjoyed participating on the wrestling team. Thereafter Tim furthered his education attending Jamestown Community College.

Tim possessed a lifelong talent and great interest in building construction and civil engineering. He joined Local Number 66, Carpenters Union, Olean, later he relocated to Rome, in 1982, where Tim continued his carpentry work through Local Union 247, Syracuse, N.Y. During this period, one of his largest projects was as Superintendent of the construction of The Lewis County Public Safety Building, in Lowville, while employed for B.S. McCarey Construction, of Rome, N.Y.

In 1998, he founded LaRoy Construction Company which was involved in the construction of gas station canopies all along the eastern seaboard of the United States.

Later, for several years, Tim was employed as construction site manager at many Utica school building projects. In 2016 Mr. LaRoy retired from his career in major building construction. After his “retirement” Tim continued his passion and enjoyment of home construction for family and friends, an occupation which he was greatly enjoying at the present time.

While living in Falconer, N.Y., Tim was a Boy Scout Master of Troop 123, where he led four Boy Scouts in earning their Eagle Scout level. He enjoyed bowling and participating in a golf league at Woodgate Pines Golf Course, Boonville. He also found much pleasure in attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and Tim was a longtime avid Buffalo Bills fan.

On Oct. 22, 1988, Tim was united in marriage with Susan Carpenter Wendt, in Turin.

Tim’s family were the great sunshine of his life; in addition to his loving wife of 32 years, Tim is survived by his children; Andrew (Sonia) Wendt, Constableville, Kimberly (John) Tengel, Boonville, John (Jen) Peterson, Christiansburg, Virginia, Jenelle (Kevin) Hansen, Jamestown, N.Y.; grandchildren, Jacob and Benjamin Wendt, Morgan, Sophia, Hewson Burd, Aimee Craddock and Nikiesha Spann, Cody Spann and Thomas Spann, who he considered also to be his grandchildren. In addition surviving is a great granddaughter, Stella Urbanowicz; five brothers and sisters in law; Robert (Mae) LaRoy, Alloway, N.J., Richard (Michele) LaRoy, Rome, Keith (Kim) LaRoy, Kennedy, N.Y., Edward (Judy) Galbraith, Longview, Texas, Steven Galbraith, Ripley, N.Y.; two sisters and a brother in law, Sherri (Donnie) Hurlbut, Remsen and Martha Armstrong, Falconer; three aunts, Birdena and Bill Fairbanks, Panama, N.Y., Eleanor Nelson, Conroe, Texas, and Elaine Fargo Sprague River, Ore. and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents; Charles LaRoy and Gladys Galbraith, a granddaughter, Arrianna Grace Tengel; a sister, Linda Beightol, by a brother James Galbraith, a brother in law, Larry Armstrong; a sister and brother in law, Dan and Norma Pavlock.

Tim is also survived by his mother in law, Marian Carpenter, four brothers in law; William (Patricia) Carpenter, John (Janette) Carpenter, Clint (Melissa) Carpenter, Ned (Rebecca) Carpenter and two sisters in law, Rosalie (Jeff) White and Jacqueline (Robert) Carpenter.

Tim is also survived by a host of friends extending from over a very wide area.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. Calling hours are Monday 3-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
