Sid Boughton

Sid Boughton endured one final hurricane, outlasting Eta, to visit with his sons one final time at Consulate Skilled Nursing facility in Safety Harbor, Fla. The “best is yet to be,” now is, as Sid spends his adventurous eternity with God. His journey began on Nov. 17, 2020.

Sid Boughton was born on April 3, 1930, in St. Petersburg, Fla., to Annie and Sidney Edward Boughton. Growing up, Sid was an accomplished athlete, a trait that he passed down to his three talented sons. His service in the U.S. Naval Reserves inspired his sons Sidney and Glenn to join the U.S. Army, with Glenn becoming a part of the Green Beret. Dad was so proud of them! Sid spent the majority of his working life for Florida Power in St. Petersburg and Holiday, Fla. He retired as plant manager after working up the ranks. He mentored many young men during those days. Sid and Nancy spent a few years in Japan after he retired, and before they returned home, they took a trip halfway around the world because they could. Of course the plan was not to fall down a mountain, break his leg, be carried out by guides, transported by elephant, make-shift raft, and finally pickup truck to the nearest hospital. (Sid would chuckle that the pickup truck was the worst of it!) Leg set and the journey continued. That story summed up his life. Love and enjoy the adventure, no matter what happens or where you are, and celebrate it with others. For more years than anyone can remember (who has Pa’s little memo books that he kept all the information in?), Sid and Nancy gathered their entire blended family together to celebrate Thanksgiving. It was of the utmost importance that their grandchildren, and their families, who were spread around the United States, spend the week in Brighton, Utah, cavorting together in the Wasatch Mountains. Their intention…. merry making, bond building, board game playing, with all kinds of crazy skiing, has enriched our relationships, and provided a lifetime of blessed-memories for each of our families, all under the delightful watch of the El Sid, patriarch. Thanks, Dad, Pa, Grandpa, Sid. We will carry on and make sure to continue this tradition in your honor.

Surviving Sid is his beloved wife, Nancy Boughton of Holiday, Fla.: his three cherished sons and their families, Sid (Yvonne) Boughton of Safety Harbor, Fla., Glenn (Sandy) Boughton of Port Richey, Fla., and David (Vicky) Boughton of Bemus Point, N.Y.
