Shirley Klein

Shirley Klein, 92, of Au-rora, Colo., formerly of Jamestown, N.Y., passed away Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020, in the Aurora South Medical Center, Aurora, Colo. Shirley was a caring friend to all and much loved by her husband, chil-dren and grandchildren.

Shirley was born June 15, 1928, in Brooklyn, N.Y., a daughter of the late Julius and Rose Geller Hershkowitz.

She was the widow of Harry Klein, whom she married Nov. 23, 1950 and who died April 15, 2014. The two were Jamestown area residents for most of their lives. Before her re-tirement years, Shirley was associated with her husband in the operation of the former Lucie’s Women’s Wear in downtown James-town.

Shirley had a big heart and cared deeply for others. She volunteered her time in the Jamestown community at the hospital, local schools, and the library. She also taught Sunday school at the former Tem-ple Hesed Abraham Congregation, where she was a member. In her free time she loved to cook, read, play golf, Mahjong, and enjoyed bowling.

Shirley will be deeply missed by those who knew her.

Surviving are her two sons: Michael D. (Susan) Klein of Denver, Colo., and Joel S. (Abby) Klein of Williston, Vt.; a daughter- in-law, Sue Klein of New Rochelle, N.Y.; and her five grandchildren: Amy E. Klein (Brian) Molk, Niki E. Klein (Andrew) Imber, Ashley L. Klein, Dani R. Klein and Josh A. Klein.

Besides her husband Harry, she was preceded in death by her son, Rich A. Klein.

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Beth-El Cemetery. Visi-tation will not be observed.

The family suggests that memorials in Shirley’s name be made to the James Prendergast Library, 509 Cherry St., Jamestown, NY 14701.
