Elmer L. Hallberg

Elmer L. Hallberg, 88, of Bemus-Ellery Road, Bemus Point, N.Y., passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2020 at UPMC Hamot, Erie, PA

Elmer was born April 27, 1932, in Jamestown, N.Y., the son of the late Louie and Ina Peterson Hallberg.

Elmer graduated from Bemus Point High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army. Elmer and his wife, Carolyn were members of the Ellery Baptist Church. He was a member of Ellery Center Fire Company for many years and served as a fire commissioner for 15 years.

Elmer bought his farm prior to being drafted to the U.S. Army. He was a self- employed dairy farmer for over 50 years. He was an avid sport’s fan and enjoyed watching college basketball. He was a Buffalo Bills and Detroit Tigers fan for many years.

He is survived by his three children: Gary (Jan) Hallberg, Greg Hallberg (fiance ,Susann DelBalso) and Becky (Denny) Carlson all of Bemus Point, N.Y.; five grandchildren: Jared Hallberg, Zach Hallberg, Alexis Hallberg, Nicholas Carlson and Amanda Carlson and one great- grandchild: Lucas Carlson; one brother, David Hallberg; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Carolyn June Darling Hallberg, whom he married on May 3, 1958, and who died on Aug. 22, 2020; and his brother: Burtis Hallberg.

In lieu of flowers, his family suggests memorial contributions to Ellery Baptist Church, 4487 Dutch Hollow Road, Bemus Point, NY 14712 or to Ellery Center Fire Company, 4400 Dutch Hollow Road, Bemus Point, N.Y. 14712.

A private service will be held at Bemus Point United Methodist Church, Bemus Point, N.Y., Pastor Doug Kibbe, pastor of Church on the Rock, will officiate.
