Harry Wayne Wakefield

Harry Wayne Wakefield, 76, of Ashville, passed away Thursday (August 27, 2020) in his home.

A lifelong area resident, he was born Aug, 8, 1944, in Jamestown, the son of the late Richard L. and Iva Belle Foulk Wakefield.

Harry attended Falconer High School and was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Navy from 1965-70 aboard the USS Enterprise. Prior to retirement he was employed by Cummins Engine retiring in 2007.

He was a member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, Herman Kent Post 777, American Legion and the LLMA Club. Harry played baseball when he was younger. He was happy and told funny stories about himself. He joked around with people, and was loved by most people. Harry enjoyed bowling and playing golf, and hunting and fishing.

Surviving are his companion, Frances E. Engstrom; a daughter, Stacy (Harry) Ivaire of Colorado; a son, Steven (Jenelle) Wakefield of Grand Rapids, Mich.; five grandchildren; a sister, Norma Jean Norris of Ashville; and a brother, Richard “Dick” (Barbara) Wakefield of Lawrenceburg, Ky.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Scott Wayne Wakefield.

A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday (Oct. 10, 2020) at 11 a.m. in Kennedy Riverside Cemetery.
