She was born on March 9, 1939 in Hanover, N.Y. Edie was the daughter of the late Charles Green and Mary (Jenckel) Green Eastman. She was preceded in death by her late husband Robert J Smith; and her Children’s’ father, Robert Victor Swanson; along with her brothers: Raymond and Alfred Green; a step-daughter, Susan Lincoln; and beloved in-laws.

Edie is survived by her three children: Mary Pulliam (Jack Borton), Roberta (Lee) Peckham and Kevin (Kellie) Swanson; three stepchildren: Mark (Catherine) Smith, Debbie Smith, and James (Carrie) Smith. She adored her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, watching them reach their many milestones. She especially loved spending time with her family at the holidays. Some of her greatest joys in life were attending her grandchildren’s athletic games being their biggest fans in the stands.

After raising her three children, Edie endeavored in her own beautician business of making every client feel as beautiful as she was. Edie’s refined style was admired by all, and her hard work ethic was passed down to her children. She loved gifting handmade crocheted, knitted and sewn creations to her loved ones. She and her late husband enjoyed taking adventures to visit family and friends in the South while taking advantage of shopping for lost treasures at lawn sales along the way.

Her family and loved ones will miss the matriarch of her vast family. They will forever hold her dear to their hearts and keep her memories living on throughout generations.

A private celebration of life will be held in honor of Edie Smith at a future date for close loved ones.
