David W. “Grumpy” Blum

David W. “Grumpy” Blum, 67, of Mayville passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2020 at his home.

He was born Feb. 17, 1953 in Ashtabula, OH, the son of the late Thomas and Marian (Farrell) Blum.

David was a 1970 gradu-ate of Ashtabula Highschool. After gradua-tion he served his country in the United States Navy.

He worked as a car-penter, handyman, and was a “Jack of all trades”.

David was a member of the Mayville American Le-gion William L. Travis Post 493 where he enjoyed hav-ing a beer and sharing some laughs with his friends. He also enjoyed golfing and hunting with his friends from the Butcher Barn.

He is survived by a very special son, Joshua (Shalynn) Blum of May-ville, and David (April) Blum of Alabama, four daughters; Marie (David) Saddler of Missouri, Mary (Sean) Norton and Michelle (Timothy) Taylor of Texas, and Danielle (Joe) Kuli-gowski of Pennsylvania, thirteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two brothers; Scott (Pam) Blum and Randy (Sue) Blum, one sister; Shelley Blum, and many nieces, and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville (139 South Erie Street). Due to COVID 19 restrictions a maximum of fifty people allowed in fun-eral home at any time. Masks and social distancing required.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Mayville American Legion (144 South Erie Street, Mayville, NY 14757).
