Roger P. Shannon

A lifelong area resident, he was born Feb. 8, 1949, in Jamestown, the son of the late Paul and Lucy Ingerson Shannon.

Roger was a graduate of Southwestern High School 1967, SUNY Fredonia and St. Bonaventure College with a master’s degree in education and counseling. Roger was a guidance counselor and retired from Gowanda Central in 2020.

He had served as a basketball coach at Gowanda for both boys and girls for many years, as well as coordinating many other scholarly and athletic endeavors. Roger was an avid reader and immensely enjoyed frequent visits to Chautauqua Institution with his family and beloved dogs.

Surviving are his wife of nearly 50 years, Nancy N. Shannon; and son, Todd P. Shannon of Jamestown.

As per Rogers wishes no funeral service or visitation will be observed.

Memorial contributions may be donated to any local entities that move the spirit and passion of the contributor, as such to honor the life and work of a soul that strove to enrich others.
