Nancy E. (Vidal) Westerburg

Nancy E. (Vidal) Westerburg, 73, of Clymer, N.Y, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, Sept. 11, 2020.

She was born in Corry, Pa. on Christmas Eve 1946, the daughter of Harry E. and Gladys (Legters) Vidal. Nancy grew up in N. Clymer. She attended and graduated from Clymer Central School. She earned a Bachelor’s of Education from SUNY Fredonia. Nancy was a longtime teacher, a member of 504 Team Special Education Program at CCS and Dean of Students for the Clymer Central School District.

She was deeply involved with numerous community organizations. She was an EMT and 39 year member of the Clymer Volunteer Fire Department, Nancy was President and served on the Clymer Central School Board of Education for many years, she was President of the Community Support Group of Southwestern New York, a member of the Abbe Reformed Church and served as a board member of Willow Brook Manor. With her brother Howard Vidal, she was coowner of the Little Red School House. She was especially proud of the restoration of the school house, she gave countless tours and for many years also annually brought the CCS third grade for one week of all day classes at The Little Red School House. Nancy hosted an exchange student from Thailand in 2001 and was later able to travel to Thailand and visit Wimvipa Nopparat (Ice), in her homeland. Nancy was an avid traveler and spent recent winters in Virginia and Texas with her son Steve. She was a fan of the Alaskan Iditarod and even attended one in recent years. After her retirement Nancy worked several years in the office for the Chautauqua Produce Auction. A kind, committed and caring person Nancy was friends with and involved with the Amish community and specialized in natural homeopathic treatments for burn victims in the community for many years.

Nancy is survived by: her son, Steven Westerburg; her brother Howard Vidal; nephews: Justin, Ashton and Brian Vidal, a niece, Kayla Vidal; cousins: Steve and Derrick Legters and Sue Tarply.

She is predeceased by her parents, Harry and Gladys Vidal.

Calls may be made Thursday from 1-3 p.m. at the Chautauqua Produce Auction, 7844 Rt. 474, N. Clymer, N.Y., where funeral services will follow at 3pm. NYS Covid Regulations will be observed.
