Marvin ‘Bud’ L. Shaver

Marvin ‘Bud’ L. Shaver of 270 Main St., ER Randolph, N.Y., formerly of Kiantone Road, Jamestown, passed away Thursday Aug. 27, 2020, at the home of his adopted family, the Zachars, who provided loving care for him until the end. He was 89.

Bud was born May 23, 1931 in Busti, N.Y., the son of Raymond and Inez Shaver. The story he told was “my mother and father went fishing that day, caught me and brought me home.” Bud had a great sense of humor and touched the heart of everyone he came in contact with.

Bud was a hard-working dairy farmer with his broth-er, Ray on the family farm and continued running the farm after the passing of his brother. He retired in 1999. After retirement, Bud took a trip of a lifetime with his friend, John along the east coast to Florida. One of the highlights of his trip was touring the NASCAR garage of Richard Childress racing in Charlotte, N.C.

He enjoyed eating Mike’s cooking, watching NASCAR, his John Deere tractor, a good cup of coffee and the pleasure of having company and conversation. Bud also enjoyed birthday, Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations with the Zachars.

Bud was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Raymond Shaver; his sister, Anna Fern (Edward) Mackenzie; special cousin, Tommy Eaton; and his friend, John Russell.

Bud is survived by Mike and Emily Zachar; his adopted grandchildren: Taylor Zachar (Garrett), Jacob Zachar (Amber); and a great-granddaughter due in December.

He was thought of very fondly by the extended Zachar and Ferris families, who always made him feel special.

He is also survived by his nephew, Marvin (Sharon) Mackenzie; niece, Sylvia (Ron) Nixon; cousin-in-law, Sandy Eaton and her family; and several great nieces and nephews.

Each day over the past three years was made brighter for Bud when Lisa walked through his door. Her kind and caring way with helping Bud is very much appreciated.

Thank you to Melody, Ronda and the staff at Total Senior Care for their care and support of Bud in his time of need.

They say it takes a village to raise a child but it also takes a village to care for someone in their final days. Thank you to April and her girls for their care and support, Mikki for sharing her faith and prayers, and to everyone who shared kind words of support for him.

Bud is buried with his family at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg, N.Y.

No funeral service or visitation will be observed.
