Louise G. Young

Louise G. Young, 85, of Brocton, N.Y., passed away Thursday, Sept. 17, 2020, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Erie, Pa., surrounded by her loving family.

Louise was born June 24,1935 in Gothenburg, Sweden, the daughter of the late Helge and Nanny (Andreason) Hanson.

Surviving are two daughters: Diane (James) Scarpine of Westfield, N.Y., and Deborah (Todd) Rapp of Jamestown, N.Y.; five granddaughters: Nicole (Todd) Corbett, Brittany (Derek) Edwards, Jill Scarpine, Jamie (Tim) Johnson and Courtney Rapp; six great-grandchildren; also her beloved companion, Henry ” Hank” Leone of Brocton.

Louise graduated from Jamestown High School in 1953. She was employed by and retired from Westfield Central High School, where she was a librarian for over 35 years. She was a charter member of the Cross Roads Farm and Craft Market, “Young at Heart”.

In her younger years, she was a Girl Scout leader, cheerleader advisor and a Y Teens director. Louise loved the outdoors, camping, skiing, and especially swimming. One time she swan across Chautauqua Lake just for something to do and to prove she could do it. She enjoyed her monthly trips to the Seneca Niagara Casino with Hank and her friends.

Friends may call at the Mason Funeral Home, 37 Clinton St., Westfield, N.Y., on Friday, Sept. 25, 2020 from 2- 4 p.m., where a memorial service will be held at 4 p.m.

The family suggests memorial contributions in Louise’s memory to the Patterson Library or the Westfield Stray Cat Rescue.
