Anna D. Sweet

Anna D. Sweet, 102, of Jamestown, N.Y., passed away Friday, Sept. 11, 2020, at Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing.

Anna was born Feb. 10, 1918, in Newburgh, N.Y., the daughter of the late Phillip E. and Helen N. Phoenix Morse.

Anna graduated from Newburgh High School in 1936. Anna was a hard worker and worked at many places throughout her life including Grants Department Store as a department manager and she was a cook at Red Coach Inn. She raised four children on her own after her husband passed away. Anna made sure her kids had every- thing they needed.

Anna attended Pilgrim Memorial United Church of Christ. She absolutely loved to cook. In the 1950s and the 1960s she enjoyed going to Buffalo, N.Y. to go dancing at the clubs. Anna was an avid New York Mets baseball fan. On 9-11, she walked through the gates of heaven and that night the New York Mets beat the Toronto Blue Jays 18-1.

Anna is survived by her two daughters: JoAnn (Richard) Hoglund and Dudy (Steven) Lord; her son, Michael (Cyndee) Hart; four sisters: Lucille Ferrante, Lorraine Muccia, Beatrice Winsor and Helen Mekita; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first hus- band, John Hart (1954) and her second husband, Kenelm W. Sweet (1983); two sons: John Hart and Phillip Hart; her brother, Edward Morse; and her infant grandson, Phillip John Hoglund.

Due to Covid-19 a celebration of life will be delayed.
