James A, Modica

James A, Modica, 74, of Middleburg, Fla., died on Jube 20, 2020, at Kindred Hospital in Green Cove Springs, Fla., after and ex-tended illness.
He was born May 30, 1946, to Vincent and Margaret Anderson Modica in Jamestown, N.Y. He graduated from Jamestown High School in 1964, He served in the U.S. Navy for four years. James moved to Middleburg, Fla., in 1973, where he worked for 20 years, 1981-2004 at the Union Correctional Institution in Raeford, Fla. After retirement, he worked as a security guard.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Taylor Modica, who died on April 19, 2020. They were married on March 15, 1968. They met at the children’s home in Falconer, N.Y., were they both resided. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Anna Mae Schroeder, who died Feb. 25, 2014.
James is survived by two sons: Vincenzo (Javone) and Anthony, both of Middleburg; a sister, Nancy Remington of Sanford, N.C.; a niece Kim Prince of Frewsburg, N.Y., nephew, William Jones of Glen Al-len, Va., a nephew, Scott Swanson and niece, Sharyl Swanson of Chico, Calif., and a niece, Deborah Swan-son of San Jose, Calif. He is also survived by several great-nieces and nephews; a grandson, Sebastian and three stepdaughters: Arielle, Darien and Rachel of Middleburg.
James was active in Middleburg, he was a Free Mason in the Scottish Rite Lodge 107 and was three times lodge master. In grade school he was in a comedy show and continued thru life, he was always the life of the party with one joke after another.
Burial will be at a later date in Jamestown, N.Y.
