George Robert Smith Jr.

George Robert Smith Jr., 59, of Charlotte, N.C., passed away Sunday, July, 26, 2020. at Atrium Health – Pineville Hospital in Charlotte, N.C., after a short illness.

George, known as Bob to many, was born on Oct. 10, 1960, in Jamestown, N.Y., the son of George Robert and the late June E. (Hallett) Smith Sr.

George ”Bob” was a graduate of Panama Central School class of 1979. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving proudly for eight years.

George ”Bob” enjoyed working with his hands, motorcycles, fishing, hunting. He loved Heather, his children, family, friends and his dogs. He was a kind and considerate person. He was a true patriot and loved this country. No one was a stranger, just a friend he hadn’t met yet. The world is a better place because he was a part of it and will be terribly missed.

In addition to his father George Robert Smith Sr., George ”Bob” is survived by his loving companion and girlfriend, Heather Ba-con of Charlotte, NC; a daughter, June Rothmeyer of Appleton, Wis,; a son, George Robert Smith III of Tioga, Pa.; a sister, Deborah (John) Mallery of Port Allegany, Pa.; two brothers: Michael (Rebecca) Smith of Greenbrier, Tenn., and Stephen Smith; three grandchildren: Reznor, Rozlynn and Landen; one aunt, Nancy J (Hallett) Schuyler of Jamestown, N.Y.; two nieces; eight nephews; and several cousins.

In addition to his mother, June E. (Hallett) Smith, George ”Bob” was preceded in death by both maternal and paternal grandparents, Lloyd F. and Lillian I. (Austen) Hallett and Fredrick B. and Agnes (Shook) Smith; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

No arrangements for funeral services have been made due to the current is-sues.
