Rev. Roger N. Eimers Sr.
Rev. Roger N. Eimers Sr. went into the arms of Jesus, early on Sunday morning, July 26, 2020. He had fought a hard battle for five weeks with new found heart disease and had been home from the hospital only five days when he suddenly went home while in the arms of his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 55 years, Wendy Payne Eimers.
He was born May 31, 1943 to the late Earl and Florence Eimers. Roger graduated from Ripley Central School in 1961 and headed to Hobart College where he graduated with honors in 1965. He taught mathematics at Southwestern Central High School in Jamestown, N.Y., for seven years and attend-ed Syracuse University in the summers where he earned his masters degree in math. In 1972, Roger felt God calling him into the ministry and left Jamestown to attend Temple University in Chattanooga, Tenn., and teach in Temple High School after graduating with a Master of Divinity.
Roger and Wendy moved back to Chautauqua County and he became the Pastor of Lake Erie Baptist Church (LEBC) which he started. He resigned LENC in 1984, when he became sick with lead/mercury poisoning. He was out of the ministry for several years before he started Faith Baptist Church, which he always called a church for hurting people. Pastor Eimers accepted everyone right where they were and allowed people to be who they were without trying to fix them, leaving that to God. He retired five years ago. He sacrificed his life to serve others and to tell everyone he could be in contact with about salvation through Jesus.
Roger is survived by eight children: Laurie (Rick) Trudeau. Va.,, Roger,Jr. (Laurie) Eimers, Florida, Jennifer (Will) Everhart, North Carolina, Stephen (Melissa) Eimers, Tennessee, Mary (Tim) Overbeck, Jamestown, N.Y, David (Jen) Eimers, Virgina, Daniel (Bonita) Eimers, Tennessee, and Joshua (Brittany) Eimers, Virginia. He is further survived by 26 grandchildren; two brothers: Dr. Lee Eimers, Ohio, and Richard Eimers. Ripley, N.Y.; and a sister, Cheryl Brown, Tennessee. He also leaves behind several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his beloved granddaughter, Hannah Eimers.
There will be a celebration of life for relatives and friends in the parking lot at Faith Baptist Church, 32 East Second St., Dunkirk, N.Y., where memories can be shared. This will be at 1 p.m. The service will also be live streamed for out of town relatives and friends.
