David R. Oakes

He was born July 26, 1953, in Cattaraugus, N.Y., to the late Fred and Janice Oakes.

David drove fuel truck most of his life and retired from Noco Energy Corp. in 2018.

He enjoyed riding his Harley with his wife, camping and spending time with family and friends.

David is survived by his loving wife Debra; his cherished children: Dylan (Christy) Oakes, Heather (Sean) Payne; a step-daughter, Laurie Newcomb; his grandchildren: Caden, Caysie, Natalie, Joshua, Taran, Damon, Landon, Gaige and Onalee; three great-grandchildren; his siblings: Deborah (Scott) Miller, Dawn (Tarry) Klaun and Daryl Oakes. He is also survived by many special friends.

Besides his parents, David was predeceased by his brother, Danny Lee Oakes.

Relatives and friends may visit DiStasio Funeral Home, 478 Route 83 at Balcom Corners, South Dayton on Sunday, Aug. 2, 2020, from 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. A private funeral service will be held by the family with the Rev. Ken Pratt officiating. Pursuant to the “unpausing” New York State guidelines, occupancy limitations will be observed. Face masks are required.
