Shirley Marie Thayer

Shirley and Morgan Ross Thayer met and fell in love at Midway Park, N.Y. They both loved to roller skate and especially at Midway Roller Rink. They were blessed to have their names added to a plaque of “Sweethearts of Midway”.

Shirley worked at the voting machine company in Jamestown, N.Y., before the family moved to Florida in 1958. In Florida, she worked for the state of Florida, as a school bus driver, cafeteria lunch lady and dietitian at a hospital in Kissimmee, Fla.

She was an amazing woman and a wonderful Mom that is loved, missed, and will always be cherished by her family.

She was proceeded in death by her loving husband, Morgan Ross Thayer.

She is survived by her four children: Pamela Potts, Dennis Thayer, Gary Thayer and Deborah Moreland. Shirley’s children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was a very proud and wonderful grandmother to Chris Potts, Jeff Potts, Kinsey Moreland-Pelleymounter and Mathew Ross Thayer and a great-grandmother to Jahslyn Potts, Alex Potts, Ryan Pelleymounter, Kylie Pelleymounter, Noah Ross Thayer and Josie Lynn Thayer.

She loved to take cruises on cruise ships with her husband, Morgan. They cruised the Caribbean, Mexico, Europe and Alaska. Each and every cruise was an experience that they enjoyed together and looked forward to going on the next adventure. They also enjoyed traveling in their RV and were avid boaters. Mom loved to fish. Dad was the captain of the ship!

A private memorial will be held by the family in Jamestown, N.Y., to be determined.
