Mildred “Millee” Bush
Mildred “Millee” Bush passed on to a new life June 7, 2020. She was surrounded by her children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren in home hospice in Conowingo, Md., where she resided for the past 22 years. Millee was 91 and a half years old.
Millee Bush (nee Sorensen) was born Dec. 9, 1929, in New York City. In her early 20s, she was hired by Mr. James Cash Penny (aka J.C. Penny) to be his personal secretary and to hand-write all his communiques. As a Naval canteen volunteer, she met her “handsome sailor”, Harold “Popcorn” Bush of Wattsburg, PA. They shared a 47-year amorous love story on the shore of Chautauqua Lake in Celoron, and then later, on Glidden Avenue in West Ellicott.
Millee was adored and loved by so many people for her upbeat, giving and fun-loving attitude, her color-full flair for style (No one could dress like Millee!) and for her joyful service as “Mrs. Santa Claus,” for over 30 years at the Chautauqua Mall and other service-related organizations. She served as an officer for the Ladies Shriner Auxiliary and also enjoyed spending time as a member of the Celoron American Legion, the Lakewood Rod and Gun, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and other service organizations.
Surviving are: daughter Cindi Lamb Wiley (nee Bush) and son-in-law, Gordon Wiley; sisters: Linda Malcouronne of Center Conway, N.H., and Charlotte Veneziano of Massapequa, Long Island, N.Y.; grandchildren: Alan Lamb II of Washington, D.C., and Jennifer Manns Guererro of Columbus, Ga., Lacey Medrano, William Bush and Chelsea Bush of New Mexico and Brandi Hollenbeck of Seaford, Va.; and great-grandchildren: Hailee Scarbrough and U.S. Marine Bryson Scarbrough. Also included Miss Millee’s bonus grandchildren: Debbie Wiley Bright, Ethan Bright, Lisa Claire and Otto Witomski and Charles Wiley.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Harold “Popcorn” Bush, 1930- 1996; her son, Steven “Steve” Bush, 1952-2007; her granddaughter. Laura Lamb, 1979-1986; and her son-in-law of 30 years, Raymond “Ray” Manns, 1955-2009.
