Karen A. Ingrao

Karen A. Ingrao of Frewsburg, N.Y., passed away Saturday, May 30, at UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pa.
She was born Aug. 16, 1947, in DuBois, Pa., the daughter of the late Evald T Carlson and Doris Thompson.
Karen grew up in Dagus Mines, Pa., but lived most of her adult life in Frewsburg, with her husband Joseph L. Ingrao, who passed away Dec. 16, 2002.
Karen graduated from Jamestown Community College with an accounting degree. She worked for many years at Conewango Valley Country Club and then at the Holiday Inn in Jamestown. She also worked at one time at Myers Memorial Library in Frewsburg.
Karen loved animals and rescued and tamed a few feral cats, and took in many injured cats and animals, She couldn’t turn a hungry cat away. She was mom to 10 cats at the time of her death.

She loved her family dearly and was so proud of her grandchildren. She was very artistic and had a brilliant mind. She read every book she could get her hands on. She was a walking encyclopedia. Karen was known for her wonderful apple pies.
She is survived by a daughter, Wendy Ingrao and a son Joseph Ingrao II (Lori), both of Jamestown; Dana Schwerk (Linda) whom she loved as a son; five grandchildren: BobbieJo Ellis (Tad) of Willow Alaska, Anthony (Nicole), Dennis (Jocelyn), Cassie (Kolby) and Mackenzie Whippo, all of Frewsburg. She was also survived by five great-grandchildren: Illeana, Clayton, Hudson, Carson, and Hailey. Also surviving are six nephews: Kevin L Emerson of Long Beach, Calif. Nicholas, Marcus, Jonathan, Cory and Michael Carlson.
She is also survived by her sister, Connie L Emerson of Jamestown; and brother, Gary D. Carlson of Gerry.
A celebration of life will be held in August of 2020. In lieu of flowers, gift cards can be made in her daughter, Wendy’s name at Chewy.com as she will be keeping her promise to her mother to care for her cats. Here is the e-mail for the cards is IngraoWendyA @gmail.com
