Viola O. Edson

Viola O. Edson, 91, of Gerry, formerly of Sinclairville, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2020 ,at Heritage Village.

Born April 18, 1929, in Ellington, she was a daughter of the late Clifford and Doris Mead Olmstead.

A Sinclairville resident most of her life, she was a 1946 graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School.

Viola assisted her husband and sons with the daily operation of their family dairy farm, Edson Hills Farm.

She was a long time member and former adult Sunday school teacher at Park United Methodist Church and also a past member of the Country Life Club, Chautauqua County Farm Bureau and for many years, chaired the Radio Club Committee, Dairymen’s League, Sinclairville Elementary School Mother’s Club and social member of the Ira Lou Spring American Legion. She was passionate about round and square dancing and continued participating as long as her health permitted.

Devoted wife of 50 years to the late Clinton H. Edson Jr., whom she married July 31, 1946m and who died Mar.13, 1997; mother of Alan (Diane) Edson, Paul (Marla) Edson and Mary (Charles) Lawson, all of Sinclairville and Norman (Debra) Edson of Staunton, Va.; grandmother of Melissa, James (Debra), Daniel (Michelle), Adam (Riann), William (Jennifer), Bryan (Jennifer) and Dana Edson, Jennifer (Nick) Eroraveno and Heather (Matthew) Crandall; great-grandmother of 13; sister of Jay (late Gail) Olmstead of Sinclairville and the late Lucille (late Robert “Ed” Lundgren. Also survived by nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the excellent care and dedication the Bergquist staff showed Viola while she resided there.

Private funeral services will be held at Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Sinclairville.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
