Susabelle J. “Sue” Wedburg

Susabelle J. “Sue” Wedburg, 86, of Busti, N.Y., passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, in the UPMC Hamot Medical Center, Erie, Pa.

A lifelong area resident, she was born in the Town of Harmony, a daughter of the late Alfred R. and Lilah I. McNitt James.

Sue was a 1951 graduate of Panama Central School and before her retirement in 1997, was employed for 32 years as a cashier for the former Sears Roebuck Store in the Chautauqua Mall. She had also worked for several years with the Jamestown Mutual Life Insurance Company.

She was a member of the Busti Federated Church, a life member of the Busti Fire Department Auxiliary, a member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club Auxiliary and Ingjald Lodge 65 Independant Order of Viking.

The three things that meant the most to Sue were her faith, family and friends and her greatest joy was regularly spending time with family. She especially enjoyed having fun with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, (she loved connecting with them by video and especially in person!), playing games, reading books and doing puzzles.

She also enjoyed doing needlepoint, tending to her flowers and bird feeders, playing cards with her lifelong friends and watching football, especially the Buffalo Bills.

Surviving are her children; Nancy (Robert) DeMauri of Corry, Pa., and Wayne (Joanna) Wedburg of Busti; a grandson, Aaron (Julia) Coseo of Erie, Pa.; two stepgrandchildren; Jason (Chelsea) Kissinger of Erie, Pa., and Jillian Kissinger of Busti; four great- granddaughters: Nora and Clara Coseo, Olivia and Madelyn Kissinger; a brother, Frederick (Maggie) James of Bradenton, Fla.; two sisters: Dorothy (Harold) Cornish of Bear Lake, Pa., and Sally Wilson of Warren, Pa.; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alden G. Wedburg, whom she married April 3, 1954 and who died March 17, 2011; a sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie (Thomas) Smith; a niece, Christine Cornish; and two nephews: Dennis L. James and David H. James.

Due to restrictions on public gatherings caused by the coronavirus outbreak, a memorial service will be held at a later date.. Visitation will not be observed. Inurnment will be in the Busti Cemetery.
