Georgianna “Grandma George” Louise Duryee Hoesel

MAYVILLE — Georgianna “Grandma George” Louise Duryee Hoesel, 72, of Mayville, passed away at her home on Tuesday, May 26, 2020.

She was born Feb. 22, 1948, in Erie, Pa., the daughter of Alice “Mildred” Trask Chambers and the late Carl Duryee.

Georgianna had worked for 30 years for Ethan Allen in Mayville as a wood sprayer. She had also worked as a waitress at the Mayville Diner and bartended at the Mayville Legion and Mayville Veterans of Foreign Wars. Her favorite employment was in her later years for Chautauqua Lake Central School as a teachers aide and cafeteria monitor.

She was a member of the Mayville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8647 Auxiliary. She loved going to the Casino’s, as well as playing Solitaire on the computer, crocheting, watching her kids and grandchildren’s sporting events, and family get togethers.

Georgianna is survived by her husband, Ronald R. Hoesel of Mayville, whom she married Sept. 7, 1991, in Mayville; her mother, Alice “Mildred” Trask Chambers; three children; Michael (Sheila) Howard of Texas, Melanie (Bobby Agostino) Howard of Ashville, N.Y., and Norm (Tricia) Smith of Dewittville; two stepchildren; Rhonda (Dave) Kent of Alden, N.Y., and Jonathan Hoesel of Depew, N.Y.; many grandchildren and great- grandchildren; four siblings; Carol (Gary) Howard of Mayville, Jeff (Linda) Chambers of West Virginia, James (Linda) Chambers of Sherman, N.Y., and Joseph (Donna) Chambers of Rochester, N.Y,; a special cousin, Clara (Wayne) Dunbar of Mayville; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Carl Duryee; and stepfather, James Chambers.

Due to the restrictions of the pandemic all services will be private. A celebration of life will be held at a later date at the family’s convenience. Burial will be in the Mayville Cemetery.
