Brittney M. Peterson

Brittney M. Peterson, 26, of Stockton, N.Y., passed peacefully with her family by her side at UPMC Hamot, Erie, Pa., after she had gracefully fought a courageous battle against multiple medical illnesses.

She was born May 24, 1993, in Jamestown, N.Y., a beloved daughter of Randall and Tracy Anderson Peterson.

She was a 2011 National Honor Society member, graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School and had also attended Jamestown Community College pursuing a career in human services.

Brittney was previously employed at Kwik Fill and King Kone, Cassadaga, Applebee’s, Dunkirk and Cassadaga Job Corps.

She loved to be at gatherings with family and friends especially going on Myrtle Beach vacations, participating in dance, sports, reading various novels, caring for her pets and enjoying food especially the KFC Chicken Bowl, Dad’s BBQ and Grandma Jan’s orange cookies. A roaring bonfire was always a special event during summer nights also watching movies with her family and a big bowl of popcorn shared by all.

Brittney will be remembered most for being a beautiful soul with loving eyes, smile and caring and compassionate spirit. Brittney cared deeply for members of the military, people that served her community as well as her personally, she cherished the police, EMT, fire fighters and nurses and doctors who assisted her with her lifelong medical battles.

Brittney is survived by her beautiful children: Alexa Marie and Addison Grace Buchanan; sister of Justin (Mackenzie) and Nicholas Peterson; aunt of Walker Peterson; granddaughter of Hannelore and Terry Anderson and Janice and William Camp. In addition to many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She is also survived by the father of her children, John Wallace Buchanan and his children: John Michael and Jaxon in addition his parents, Marie and Darcy Lawson and John and Kim Buchanan who she loved so dearly.

Brittney was proceeded in death by grandfathers: Warren “Pete” Peterson and Thomas Neal Anderson.

In tribute to Brittney, her immediate family gathered around her hospital bed, prayers and goodbyes were delivered by extended family and friends via electronic devices. A poem, scripture and prayers were given by her aunt, Pastor Pam, lovely music was shared by her aunt, Sheila as Brittney took her last earthly breath and was escorted into heaven.
