Shirley J. Herron

Shirley J. Herron, 91, formerly of Frewsburg, N.Y., died Wednesday March 11, 2020, in the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and John P. Duquette, in San Carlos, Calif.
A native of Sinclairville, N.Y., she was born Sept. 29, 1928, a daughter of the late Fay and Flossie Lewis. She was a graduate of Cassadaga Valley High School where she enjoyed participating in class plays as well as the marching band.
After graduating, she worked in Jamestown, N.Y., until she married her late husband, John R. Herron. They settled in Buffalo, where they were originating partners of Ken-Ton Printing, Kenmore, N.Y. Returning to Jamestown, she worked at Lewis Refrigeration and retired from Alltel Corporation.
Shirley loved to travel and read. She enjoyed baking, and spending time with family and friends. She especially loved children and always had a smile and a kind word for all. She was a member of Kiantone Congregational Church where she sang in the choir and participated in Ladies Aide. She later found great comfort with the warmth and kindness of the congregation at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Falconer, N.Y. She especially enjoyed the sermons given by Pastor Timothy Hoyer.
Surviving are her three children Monte R. Herron of Pennsylvania, Roger J. (Teena) Herron of Frewsburg, N.Y., and Dawn H. (John) Duquette of California; three grandchildren: Jennifer L. Herron of New York, Jessica M. (Christopher) Joyce of Texas, and Luke R. (Mitzi) Herron of Pennsylvania; seven great- grandchildren; and a brother, Darwin (Marilyn) Lewis of Jamestown.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Herron, whom she married Aug. 30, 1952, and who died June 23, 1980; a brother, Wayne (Doris) Lewis of Florida; and sisters: Joyce (Ernie) Chase of Cherry Creek and Audrey (Joe) Prosser of Sinclairville, N.Y.
Friends will be received Monday, March 16, from 6-8 p.m., at Lind Funeral Home.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, March 17, at 11 a.m. in the Lind Funeral Home. Pastor Timothy Hoyer will officiate. Burial will follow in Busti Cemetery.
