Elizabeth A. “Betty” Armstrong

Elizabeth A. “Betty” Armstrong, 72, of Falconer, passed away Sunday (Feb. 16, 2020) in UPMC Chautauqua after a courageous five and a half year battle with cancer.

A lifelong area resident, she was born June 4, 1947, in Jamestown, the daughter of the late James and Pauline Hillyer Biandolillo.

Betty was a 1965 graduate of Jamestown High School and prior to retirement was employed by Jamestown Dental Lab.

She was a member of Holy Apostles Parish, St. John Catholic Church, and past member of Fenner PTO, having served as president and past leader of the Girl Scouts of America. Betty enjoyed her family, grandchildren, gardening, knitting and baking. She will be remembered for making special birthday cakes for her grandchildren, baking hundreds of dozens of Christmas cookies and giving them away, and making personalized Christmas stockings for family and friends.

Surviving are her husband, Donald F. Armstrong, whom she married July 1, 1967 in St. James Catholic Church; two children: James F. (Janice) Armstrong of Hamburg and Becky Kubera of Jamestown; four grandchildren: Andrew Armstrong of Hamburg, Megan, Olivia and Adam Kubera, all of Jamestown; two brothers: Ross (Angela) Biandolillo of Amite, La.; Frank (Cathy) Portfilio of Meadville, Pa.; and a sister, Paulette (Richard) Gleason of Chesterland, Ohio.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Emily Elizabeth Kubera.

A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Holy Apostles Parish/St. John’s Catholic Church, 270 Newton Ave., Jamestown. The Rev. Dennis Mende, pastor of Holy Apostles Parish will be celebrant.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Saturday in the church.
