Mary Ellen Scott

She was born in Dunkirk on July 31, 1926, the daughter of the late George and Mabel Dickenson Dorler and moved to Jamestown with her family as a young child.

She was a 1944 graduate of Jamestown High School.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Southwestern Central School as a secretary to the middle school principal.

For many years, she volunteered at the Audubon Community Nature Center and the Lakewood Memorial Library.

She enjoyed knitting, cross stitching, reading and spent many hours playing cribbage with her neighborhood friend, Jean.

Surviving are three children: Jennifer (Robert) Schlick of Jamestown, Yvonne (Joao) Falcao of Palm Bay, Fla., and Don (Adrean) Scott JR. of Dunkirk; honorary son, Bill (Cindy) Jackson of Lakewood; and six grandchildren: Emily (Phil) Garrick, Madeline Schlick, Nicole (Carl) Liberatore, Tyler Falcao, Christopher (Rhiannon) Scott-Vercant and Spencer Scott.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don A. Scott, whom she married Oct. 16, 1948, and who died Sept. 1, 2000; a son, Martin Scott; grandson, Karl Schlick; and two brothers: George and Larry Dorler.

The memorial service, officiated by Michelle Buhite, will be held at 6 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home.

Friends will be received from 4-6 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
