Joyce M. Hawkins

Joyce M. Hawkins, 86, of Dade City, Fla. passed away Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020, in Zephyrhills, Fla. at the American House Memory Care Unit. She was born May 16, 1933, in Jamestown, to La Verne Oscar Alberg and Dorothy Charlotte Breed.

She married David Stanton Hawkins in 1952 and lived in the Jamestown/Bemus Point area until moving to Dade City 20 years ago to purchase the Town and Country RV Resort.

They were married 56 years before David passed away in 2008. Joyce and her husband also owned and operated several businesses in the Jamestown area including Hilltop Pennzoil, Saveway Auto Service, High Acres Mobile Home Park, Fairdale Mobile Home Park and Clean Car Concepts. She worked in the RV Resort business for 52 years as the owner and manager. Joyce was a member of the First Congregational Church in Zephyrhills and the Pilgrim Memorial United Church of Christ in Jamestown.

A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, her happiest times were spent with family and taking care of family. She was devoted to each member of her family and always carried a great sense of humor. She is survived by her two sons, Steve (Mary) Hawkins, Dade City, and Christopher (Shane) Hawkins, Bemus Point; two daughters, Deborah (Joe) Lounsbury, Ashville, N.Y., and Kathleen (Doug) Shay, Evergreen, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grand-children.
