Jack N. Abbey

Jack N. Abbey, 64, of Sinclairville, went home to the Lord, Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2020, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle mishap.

He was Born Dec. 14, 1955, in the town of Charlotte, a son of the late Lawrence and Maude Congdon Abbey. A Chautauqua County resident all of his life, he was a 1974 graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School.

Jack had been self-employed as a logger, trucker and saw mill owner/operator and also did a lot of excavating, dozing and rough carpentry. He was formerly employed at Ryder, Denison Enterprise, Peterson Agway, Livermore Logging and Wright Hardwood, Cockaigne, Village of Sinclairville and enjoyed driving bus for Cassadaga Valley Central School. He was presently employed for the Town of Charlotte Highway Department.

Jack loved outdoor work, helping others and tinkering at odd jobs. He spent countless hours volunteering at Bethany Camp and Evergreen Cemetery, Sinclairville, currently serving as president and was a faithful member of the Sinclairville Baptist Church.

Husband of 38 years to Geri Fisher Abbey, whom he married April 16, 1982; father of Janice (John) Neail, Jill and Mark (Cara) Abbey, all of Sinclairville; grandfather of Lucie, Jaynie, Belle, Cora, Meg, Chapman “Chip” and Polly Neail; brother of Bernice (David) Matos of South Carolina, Andy (Jean) Abbey of Sinclairville, Grace (Marvin) Hilliker of Forestville, Tom (Carol) Abbey of Kentucky, Amy (Alan) Daily, Nathan (Cynthia) Abbey and Daisy (Ken) Sutter all of Pennsylvania; brother-in-law of Barb Yaklich of Pennsylvania and the late John Ellen and Mark Abbey. Also survived by nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday in Sinclairville Baptist Church, 11 Park St., Sinclairville. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Monday in Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville. Private burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Sinclairville.
