Clara Elizabeth Richardson

Clara Elizabeth (Flagg, Thompson, Wilcox) Richardson, 88, of Cassadaga passed away Thursday Jan. 16, 2020, in her home.

She was born Dec. 16, 1931 in New Albion, N.Y., the daughter of the late Merle George Flagg and Ariel Elizabeth Pollard Flagg.

She was a resident of Cassadaga/Stockton for 70 years and Little Valley, N.Y. for her first 18 years. She owned and operated Clara’s Hair Flair and later expanded her business to The New You at 17 N. Main St., Cassadaga. She retired in 1994. She was a very giving woman who often shared her beliefs as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She touched many people’s lives and, though she will be profoundly missed, she will always be loved and never forgotten.

Survivors include her three daughters and son-in-law, Teena Swanson (Stephen) of Cassadaga; Vickie Thompson of Rochester, N.Y.; and Debbie Thompson of Cassadaga; two stepsons and daughter-in-law, Bruce Wilcox of Cassadaga; Barry (Gayle) Wilcox of Cassadaga; a sister, Gloria (Louis) Guy of Randolph, N.Y.; and a brother, William (Rose) Flagg of Gowanda, N.Y.

Surviving also are grandchildren: Tonya Swanson of Wilson, N.C.; Trisha (Kevin) Koppes of Erie, Pa.; Stephen (Jessica) Swanson, Jr of Dewittville, N.Y., Genelle (Jeffery) Marsh of Rochester; Joseph (Patricia) of Stockton; Roger (Gabriel) Fowler of Uniontown, Ohio.

Surviving great-grandchildren include children of Stephen Jr., Evan, Caleb and Hailee; children of Genelle, Courtney and Keenan; children of Joseph, Tony and Victoria; children of Roger, Dale and Paige; children of Bruce, Michael and Karen; child of Barry, Brenton; as well as three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Jay Thompson, Gordon Wilcox and Harold Richardson; a brother, Richard (Fran) Flagg; a daughter-in-law, Patsy Wilcox; and a great-grandson, Bearach Wilcox.

Arrangements entrusted to Hubert Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Our family expresses deep gratitude to the wonderful doctors and nurses who participated in caring for Mother. Also, Hospice, specifically Kari Peterson and Shannon Cole. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020 at 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 181 Martin Road, Jamestown, NY 14701. There will be no visitation, at Mother’s request.
