Ruth M. Rudolph

Ruth M. Rudolph, 100, formerly of Falconer, N.Y., and Houston, Texas, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2019, at Elderwood at Cheektowaga, Cheektowaga, N.Y.

She was born Jan. 17, 1919, in Rome, N.Y., the daughter of the late George P. and Esther Tennies Munney.

Ruth graduated from Fredonia State earning a master’s in early childhood education. She was the first teacher in the head start program in Jamestown Public Schools. She also taught at Euclid Avenue School, Love Elementary School, Ring Elementary School and Persell Middle School. She owned and operated Knit & Purl Knitting Supply Store.

Ruth was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was a Sunday school teacher, superintendent and served on the flower committee. She was a member of AAUW, Fondren Park Garden Club (Houston, Texas), IRA Lou Springs American Legion Post 149 Auxillary, Cottilion and active with DAR and was a lifetime member of the Marvin House. She was an avid gardener.

Ruth is survived by her son, John E. “Jack” (Lois) Rudolph Jr. of Machias, N.Y.; two grandchildren: Adriane (John) Spencer of Yorkshire, N.Y. and John E. Rudolph III (fiance, Jessica Zelenock) both of Cleveland, Ohio ; two great-grandchildren: Abigail and Emily Spencer, both of Yorkshire, N.Y.; a sister, Lucile Widney of Worthington, Ohio; several nieces, nephews, great- nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John E. Rudolph Sr., whom she married on May 29, 1947, and who died on June 15, 2010; two brothers: Bob and Ed Munney; two sisters: Mabel Keith and Clara Archer.

No visitation will be observed.

The family will have a private graveside service at East Randolph Cemetery.
