Chester L. “Hoss” Stratton

A lifelong area resident, he was born July 30, 1948, in Jamestown, N.Y., a son of the late Edgar L. and Inez Brooks Stratton.

He was a 1967 graduate of Southwestern Central School.

Chester was raised in the Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Church in Ashville, N.Y., and had also attended the Watts Flats United Methodist Church.

Before his retirement, he had owned and operated Stratton Tire Service in Ashville for several years and had also owned a dairy farm and worked at the former Fairbank Farms in Ashville.

Surviving is a brother; Roger A. Stratton of Pell City, Ala.; a sister, Bernice Chandler of Jamestown, N.Y.; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father who died in 1999; his mother who died in 1987′ and his stepmother, Lois E. Stratton, who died in 2008.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Dale Stratton, his cousin, and pastor of the Pilgrim Bible Church, Ottawa, Kans. will officiate. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Ashville, N.Y.
