Barbara Ann Andersen, 82, of Lakewood, N.Y., formerly of Hamburg, NY and Dorchester, Mass., passed away Sunday, Dec. 1, 2019, in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility.
She was born Oct. 13, 1937, in Jamestown. the daughter of the late Paul and Ivy Peterson Young.
Barbara was a 1955 graduate of Jamestown High School and attended Strong Memorial School of Nursing in Rochester. She had worked in Banking in Jamestown, Boston, Mass., and Hamburg, N.Y., and also as an aide at the Hamburg Central Pre-School.
She was a longtime member of the Sweet Adelines in Hamburg, the Bemus Point Women’s Golf League, and sang in the church choir.
Surviving are her husband ,S. Walter Andersen, whom she married July 19, 1958, in Jamestown; a daughter, Dr. Holly Andersen-Hirsch (Douglas) of New York City; daughter-in-law, Susan Sara Andersen of Warren, N.J.; five grandchildren: Kelsey, Kaitlyn and Kyle Andersen of Warren, N.J.; and Alison and Gregory Hirsch of New York City.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Scott Andersen who died Sept. 4, 2010.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed.
