Nancy Wooley Okerlind

Nancy Wooley Okerlind, 93, formerly of Weeks Street and 142 Buffalo St., in Jamestown, passed away Nov. 5, 2019, at the Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing facility.

She was born in Jamestown, on Jan. 5, 1926 and was the daughter of the late Melin and Frances Wooley Okerlind. She was also the granddaughter of Charles Okerlind, the Swedish Vice Consul in Jamestown for 30 years.

Nancy was a graduate of Jamestown High School in 1943, Alfred University Extension on 1945 and the Rochester Institute of Technology in1947.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Jamestown, where she was baptized and confirmed, and also belonged to the Mozart Club.

During her business career, Nancy started “The Bridal Shop” in Jamestown and had been a buyer in Buffalo, N.Y., and Beverly Hills, Calif. She became assistant manager of the largest Savings and Loan Association in the country at the time while living in Beverly Hills. Upon her return to Jamestown in 1971, she was the personnel director at Automatic Voting Machine and later affiliated with Jamestown Royal.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by several Hogle family cousins.

A graveside committal service will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, at the family lot in Lake View Cemetery. The Rev. Robert J. Hagel, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, will officiate.
