Leo O. Hans

NEW YORK/FLORIDA — Leo O. Hans, 81, of West Perrysburg Road, Perrysburg, N.Y., passed away Friday, Nov. 8, 2019, in Lakeland Memorial Hospital, while living at Grand Villa Senior Living Community in Lakeland, Fla.

He was born in Buffalo N.Y., on Jan. 16, 1938, the only child of the late Leo L. and Mildred Hans.

He attended Gowanda High School and worked at JN Adam Developmental Center in Perrysburg. Leo and his wife, Janet also owned and ran several grape farms in Perrysburg and were previous owners of the Perrysburg Tavern.

Mr. Hans was an active member of his community, belonging to the Gowanda Moose 1382, a volunteer Firemen for over 50 years, a town constable and was a former delegate to Welch’s board of directors. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, camping, deer hunting, golfing and especially spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include three daughters: Deborah (Mike) McLaughlin of Zephyrhills Fla., Cynthia Van Ens of Lakeland Fla., and Judy (Matt) Johnston, of Little Valley; three sons: Leo Paul Hans, of Seffner, Fla, Barry (Mary) Hilliman, of Valley Grande, Ala., and Fred (Linda) Hilliman, of Conewango Valley. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and some great-great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his is wife of 45 years; Janet F. Hans; a son, Martin Hilliman; and a daughter, Patricia Hilliman.

There will be no visitation observed at this time. However, there will be a future celebration of life and burial at the Perrysburg Cemetery this June 2020 in Perrysburg, N.Y.
