Carol A. Garnsey

Carol A. Garnsey,77, of Silver Creek, N.Y., passed away Saturday morning Nov. 16, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo, N.Y. after a brief illness with her loving family at her side.

She was born on Dec. 23,1941 in Silver Creek, the daughter of the late Nelson and Edna (Newton) Cross.

Carol was a lifelong area resident graduating from Silver Creek High School in 1959. She worked as a waitress for Roof’s Restaurant, a bookkeeper for Seegert’s Dairy, Hanover Iron & Supply as a receptionist and also Walmart at the courtesy desk for a number of years. On Feb. 9,1963 Carol married Erva R. Garnsey at the First Methodist Church in Silver Creek and they were wed for 56 years at the time of her passing. Family was paramount to Carol, she enjoyed traveling, going for rides through the country and playing games. Wintering in Homosassa Springs, Fla. with Erva and the family was something she looked forward to every year. She loved to go see the manatees and dolphins in their natural habitat.

In addition to her husband, Carol is survived by three daughters, Cynthia (Hassan) Abdelbaky of Monroe Township,N.J., Patricia (Kevin) Gilbert of Jamestown, and Kathleen Garnsey of Portland, N.Y.; a grandson, Matthew Dow; a brother, Ronald Cross of Silver Creek; two sisters, Marilyn Ralph of Derby, N.Y., and Dora (Donald) Gage of Silver Creek.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Marvin Cross, and two sisters, Joyce Engel and Beverly Cross.

Friends may call at the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave., Silver Creek, on Tuesday, Nov. 19,2019 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. A private burial will be at the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
