Kathrine J. Larson-Hoffman

Kathrine J. Larson-Hoffman of 227 Prospect St., Jamestown, N.Y., passed away peacefully in her home on Friday (Oct. 4, 2019.

She was born Nov. 10, 1960, in Findlay, Ohio, to David L. Larson and Susan Jane Bikle.

Her family later moved to Dunkirk, N.Y., where she graduated high school in 1979.

In her early years, she was an accomplished gymnast, holding state and national rankings. She traveled internationally to Romania and other countries to train with internationally acclaimed Olympic gymnasts like Nadia Comaneci. She continued to love gymnastics and passed this love onto her daughter.

At her best, Kathy was always the life of the party. She brought a vibrancy and spirit to every environment that made people laugh–either with her or at her. She was known for saying and doing funny and quirky things, her animated mannerisms, and her “snort-laugh.” Kathy had an incredible sense of style and fashion and loved to shop for clothes, shoes and jewelry. She never lacked for something fashionable to wear.

Her children were the love of her life. As a single-mother she worked hard to provide for everything they needed and wanted. Even in the busyness of life, she never missed a sporting event, school activity or special concert. She would regularly bring a cow bell to ring both in a show of vivacious support and in an attempt to embarrass everyone around her. Her kids pretended to hate it, but always knew that their mom was there, attentive, supportive, and loud on their behalf.

For the past 26 years, Kathy had worked for the Chautauqua County Department of Health and Human Services in the Foster Care Department. She was dearly loved and strongly supported through many difficult circumstances by her co- workers and supervisors. Her family extends their deepest gratitude and appreciation for everything that DHHS and the Foster Care Department did for her.

Kathy is survived by her children, Pastor Cameron (Sheri) Lienhart of Jamestown, N.Y., and Kasey (Ryan) Duffy of Angola, N.Y. Her parents, Dr. David (Vivian) Larson of Fredonia, N.Y. and Susan (Albert) Richter of Adams, N.Y. Her siblings: Deborah (Dan) Hayden of Conesus, N.Y., Jim (Pam) Larson of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Caleb (Anna) Richter of Watertown, N.Y., and Rebekah Richter-Honer also of Adams, N.Y.

In addition to several nieces, nephews and their spouses, most special to her were her grandchildren: Noah, Abigail, Hannah, “Wompy,” and Olive Lienhart, all of Jamestown, and Charles, Elliott, and Nora Duffy of Angola, N.Y. Her grandchildren will always know how loved, cherished, and special they were to their grandma.

Friends and family will be received Saturday, Oct. 12, 2019, from 11 a.m. -1 p.m., at Conduit Ministries, 120 Delaware Ave., Jamestown, NY 14701. Memorial service will begin promptly at 1 p.m., officiated by the Rev. James Bailey (retired) and Pastor Cameron Lienhart. Inurnment will be in Allen Cemetery, Willard Street Ext., Falconer, N.Y.
