James Alan “Jim” Ellis

James Alan “Jim” Ellis, 63, of 3618 Lawson Road, Busti, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019, the result of a motor vehicle accident.

A lifelong area resident, he was born June 18, 1956, in Jamestown, a son of Robert Ellis and the late Regina Johnson Ellis.

During his school age years, Jim was employed by a local farmer. He was a 1974 graduate of Jamestown High School. Following graduation, he worked as truck driver for various milk hauling companies.

In 1982 Jim and a business partner started Busti Lime Service. In 1985, Jim’s brother “Chet” partnered with Jim and together they incorporated the company and expanded it to include agricultural lime spreading, trucking, metal fabricating, welding and plastic fabricating. They worked together for 34 years up until the time of Jim’s death.

He was a member and director of Busti Fire Department and member and trustee of Busti Federated Church. His other memberships include Busti Men’s Association, Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, Celoron Moose Lodge 2587, Injald Lodge 65 Independent Order of Vikings and Carroll Masonic Lodge 1147. A former Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader of Troop 138, he was a proud supporter of Chautauqua County 4-H.

Jim especially enjoyed activities with his family including riding his motorcycle, camping, hiking, kayaking and bicycling. He also had a love for his Mack trucks. Jim is much loved and is sadly missed by his wife, Pam; sons: Ted and Tad; and all family members and friends.

Besides his father of Jamestown, surviving are his wife, Pamela Lashhorn Ellis, whom he married Feb. 7, 1987; two sons: Theodore “Teddy” Ellis of Busti and Thaddeus “Tad” (wife Bobbie Jo) of Willow, Alaska; two grandchildren: Ileana Grace Ellis and Clayton David Ellis, both of Willow Alaska; a brother, David “Chet” Ellis of Busti; two sisters: Linda (Dan) Anderson of Northport, Fla., and Kay (Brian) Nelson of Falconer; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, May 20, 2019.

A memorial parade of fire trucks, semi trucks and motorcycles will pass the Busti Fire Hall at 1:30 p.m., Saturday followed by a celebration of life at 2 p.m. in the Busti Fire Hall. The Rev. Lee O’Brien will officiate. A Masonic Lodge Funeral Service and a Fire Department Memorial Service will be held just prior to the celebration. A time of food and revelry will start at the fire hall immediately after the service.
