Rev. Msgr. Leon M. Neu

Rev. Msgr. Leon M. Neu, 91, former Pastor of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Randolph and Catholic Chaplain at Red House in Allegany State Park, from 1995-2004, went to the Lord Aug. 7, 2019.

Ordained in 1952, Neu served in various parishes in the Diocese including 18 years at St. Martin of Tours Buffalo before coming to Randolph.

During his retirement, Rev. Msgr. Neu walked and worked with dogs at the Buffalo City Animal Shelter several times a week. Known for his ability to communicate with the more temperamental dogs the staff refered to him as the “Dog Whisperer”

Rev. Msgr. Neu was a member of the Monsignor Nash Knights of Columbus and a Fourth Degree Knight of the Monsignor Toomey Assembly.

Son of the late Victor A. and Catherine M. (Lauth); brother of the late Catherine T. (Carlton Hasselback), Eleanor S. (Edwin Buchbinder), Victor E. (Virginia), Norbert J. (Jane Kratt); survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Sunday 4-8 p.m. at the SIECK, MAST & LESLIE FUNERAL HOME, 250 Orchard Park Road, West Seneca, N.Y.

Rev. Msgr. Neu will lie in state Monday at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Basilica where a concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Most Rev. Richard J. Malone, Bishop of Buffalo, presiding. Friends invited. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lackawanna, N.Y. Arrangements are by Charles F. McMahon, Funeral Director.
