Eugene E. Delcamp

He was born Jan. 5, 1937, in Arkwright, N.Y., the son of the late Leon and Anne Snow Delcamp.

Gene had worked for the New York State Department of Transportation for 37 years as a tree surgeon and snow plow operator.

He enjoyed working around his house, lawn care, wood working, remodeling his home, time on his tractor, his pet dog, Buddy; and most of all, time with his family.

Gene is survived by his wife of 63 years, Donna Eddy Delcamp, whom he married Nov. 11, 1955, in Brocton, N.Y.; his two sons: Mark Delcamp of Falconer and Daniel (Julie) Delcamp of Mayville; a daughter, Doreen (Kelly) Hammond of Ellery Center; nine grandchildren: Jennifer and Kayla Delcamp, Erik, Toby Hammond, Andriel Moore, David, Jacob, Tyler, and Nicholas Delcamp, 16 great-grandchildren with eight being boys, and eight being girls one sister; Joan Boice of Erie, Pa., and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David Delcamp; and two brothers: Gordon and Merton Delcamp.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, Aug. 23, 2019, at the Maranatha Baptist Church in Mayville (43 Academy St.). The Rev. Norman Burdick and the Rev. Gary Nutt will officiate. Burial will be in the Portland Evergreen Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m., on Thursday, Aug. 22, at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville (139 S. Erie St).
