Steven C. ‘‘Duck” Sprague

Steven C. ”Duck” Sprague, 71, of Mayville and North Fort Myers, Fla., passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2019, after a lengthy illness, at Chautauqua Rehab and Nursing Facility, Dunkirk, N.Y..

He was born Oct. 3, 1947, to the late Willis W. Jr. and Thelma L. Sprague.

He was manager of Chautauqua County Federal Credit Union, Mayville, N.Y., until his retirement.

Steve was an enthusiastic sportsman, enjoying hunting, skeet/trap shooting, bow hunting, golf and camping at “Camp Booze ‘N Snooze,” owned by his longtime friend, Ted H. He was a devoted Cleveland Indians fan and an avid cribbage player.

Duck was a long time member of the Conservation Club of Mayville, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

He is survived by one brother, Willis W. (Pamela) Sprague III, Parump, Nev.; a son, Adam Sprague, of Haines City, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Heidi Westover of Haines City, Fla.; and two nieces: Heather (Brian) Ross of Corfu, N.Y. and Melissa (Corey) Leone, of Dunkirk, N.Y.

No prior visitation, but friends are invited to a celebration of Steve’s life on Sunday, Aug. 4, from 2-4 p.m., at the Mayville Veterns of Foreign War Post.
